new jewelry, photography attempts

Wed Jul 16, 2008, 10:22 AM
So my aunt is hosting another home jewelry show for me in August, and I've got a number of sets made up now.
I always want to have pictures of my work so I spent some time outside today trying to get good shots. I don't think I ever realized how difficult jewelry photography can be!
I've read a little on how to get good photos, and I feel like the 100+ pics I took are pretty decent. The big problem is my camera - it doesn't have a macro setting. I'll definitely be purchasing a new camera, hopefully in the near future.
But for now I'm pretty happy with my results. Oh, I also recently switched from a PC to a Mac and, consequently, switched from Corel PhotoPaint to the GIMP for editing. My GIMP skills are a little rusty so any suggestions/links to tutorials are welcome. :)
I have been using *chat-noir's photo editing tute: [link] and it's been very helpful.
